THE MISSION OF THE AMOSPL IS TO PROVIDE ITS MEMBERSHIP WITH ENJOYABLE RECREATION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY BY OPERATING AN ORGANIZED, CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH TO PLAY SLO-PITCH COMPETITIVELY AND SAFELY.

BY-LAW 1
LEAGUE MEMBERSHIP
The league shall consist of two Divisions: Masters Division and Open Division. A league vote, as detailed in the constitution, must be conducted to add a new team to the league or to expunge a current member team from the league.

BY-LAW 2
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
In order to be eligible to play in the Masters Division, an individual must achieve the age of 35 on or before 31st of December of the calendar year in which the season is played. NEW Two players will be aloud to play in Seniors if turning 34 in the calendar year. In order to be eligible to play in the Open Division, an individual must achieve the age of 18 on or before May 1st of the calendar year in which the season is played. Proof of player eligibility is the responsibility of the team, should a protest be submitted. A player must play in at least eight regular season games to be eligible to participate in the play-offs.

TEAM ROSTERS
Team rosters shall be declared clear at the conclusion of each season. All players are “Free Agents” during the winter. No later than 1st. May, each team shall submit a signed roster of its players to the Secretary. Teams allowed changes up to July 1st. The roster shall consist of a minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 22 players. A player signed on a submitted roster must receive a release from his current team before being placed on the roster of another team in the same division of the league. The signed release form must be submitted to the Secretary no later than 48 hours prior to the player’s first game with his new team.

TEAM ENTRY FEES
Team entry fees shall be determined by the League Executive. New teams must submit a performance bond of $100 no later than 1 February in order to be considered for inclusion in the league. Total team entry fees must be paid to the Treasurer no later than 1st May. Failure to submit team entry fees by the deadline will result in teams not allowed playing, and leading to fines and Discipline. Team entrance fees shall expended by the League Executive to operate the league.

TEAM IN GOOD STANDING
In order to participate in a League Vote, a team must be in “Good Standing” with the league. A team in Good Standing is one current with all team entry fees and fines assessed by the league paid in full.

BY-LAW 6
CONDUCT
All members of the AMOSPL including teams, managers. Coaches, players and training staff shall familiarize themselves with and abide by the league Constitution, By-laws, Rules of Play and Rules of Conduct. Failure on the part of a team, team official or team member to abide by the league Constitution, By-laws, Rules of Play and/or Rules of Conduct will result in a discipline hearing before the League Discipline Committee. The League Discipline Committee will consist of the President, Vice President, Umpire-in-Chief and, as directed by the President, one representative from an uninvolved Masters team and one representative from an uninvolved Open team. The hearing shall be conducted in accordance with By-law 7 – Discipline Hearings.

DISCIPLINE
The League Discipline Committee shall conduct discipline hearings, consider the findings and determine the appropriate corrective action to be taken in the order of fines, suspensions or, in the most extreme cases, permanent banishment from the league. The decision of the League Discipline committee is final. While extraordinary of serious infractions will require significant consideration, the majority of offences can and shall be dealt with in accordance with the Corrective Actions Chart contained in this By-law.

2. TEAMS THAT DO NOT PAY FINES WILL ALSO BE FINED FOR FORFEITING THAT GAME TO PAY THE UMPIRES.

NOTE:
1. INFRACTIONS NOT COVERED BY THIS AUTOMATIC PLAYER SUSPENSION TABLE SHALL BE CONSIDERED BY LEAGUE DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE.
2. PLAYERS SUSPENDED IN ONE DIVISION AND PLAYS IN OTHER DIVISIONS: Players must serve their suspension with the team of the infraction prior to playing on any other teams.

PROTESTS
Protests regarding rule infractions during games must be submitted in writing to the President or Vice President within 24 hours of the alleged infraction. A protest fee of $100 must accompany each protest submitted. The protest fee shall be refunded to the team submitting the protest should the protest be upheld.

APPEALS
A team or individual may submit an appeal to the President or Vice President regarding any decision made by the League Discipline Committee within 24 hours of notification of the decision. An appeal fee of $100 must accompany each appeal submitted. The appeal fee shall be refunded to the team or individual submitting the appeal should the appeal be supported.

POSTPONEMENT OF GAMES
Any team having cause to request a postponement of a scheduled game must submit a Request to Postpone Game to the Scheduler no later than 72 hours before the scheduled game time. Late submissions will not be considered.

BY-LAW 11
RAIN OUTS
In the case of inclement weather, no later than one hour before game time, the home team shall assess the field conditions and decide whether the field is safe for play. Should conditions not be safe, home team must immediately notify umpire-in-chief, scheduler, visiting team and the home team of each subsequent game that day. The home teams notified must subsequently notify the visiting teams in their respective games. Failure to comply with this By-Law shall result in corrective measures as outlined in By-Law 7 – Discipline.

PLAY-OFFS
Play-off format shall be determined by the League Executive and announced no later than one week prior to end of the regular season. A player must have played in a least eight regular season games in a division to be eligible to participate in the play-offs for that division.
